edit .bashrc in your home directory and look for a line containing fortune.

in terminal I entered "edit .bashrc" with no fortune.
I am not sure I did this correctly as I am pretty green at this.
Any other thoughts?

open a terminal, and login as user
type
Code:
gedit .bashrc
look for a line with fortune in it
put a # at the beginning of the line.
safe the file.

If there isn't a line with fortune, do the same for the file
/etc/bash.bashrc
Code:
sudo gedit /etc/bash.bashrc
