Mint 14 X server will not start
 

Currently running Mint 10 with few issues.

Downloaded and installed Mint 14 on sdb from a live dvd. Live dvd runs fine and the install appears to have run with no issues.

However, when attempting the start Mint 14 the x server will not run.

Really not sure how to troubleshoot this so I am open to suggestions.

Forgot to mention; The login screen looks fine so maybe X is starting. But after entering user name and password it comes right back to the login screen.

Not sure how but I'm in Linux 14 now. However, I don't think the issue is resolved.
I started in "recovery mode" and select one of the options from the recovery menu. Unfortunately I don't remember what option it was.

Anyway the system appeared to hang so I enter ctrl-c and it logged me into the Mate desktop.

Really weird.

I trying to get the nvidia drivers loaded while I'm logged in.

Managed to get nvidia drivers installed and things appear to me almost perfect.

I saw an error popup while logging in. It said that /tmp did not exist or was not ready. But I checked it after starting up and /tmp seems OK.

Not real comfortable with Mint 14 so far.
