Mint 13 live login reqired

I have tried Linux Mint 13 KDE from the APC Magazine's DVD, and downloaded the Xfce version from the Internet. Both have the same problem.

I have installed them on an SD card since my optical drives don't work any more. I used UNetBootin.

The problem is that both versions require a username and password, but I cannot find what they are. Very strange for a live distro intended for new users to try.

Any clues?

Thanks
Jim

There is some information on this problem at the Mint forums link below and it would seem the user is mint, no password:

no good

md5 checks good, and the Integrity Check reports no problems.

There has been a bug in Ubuntu and hence Mint since V8. On some very few computers this will happen. I have never found the way to bypass the deal and can't figure out why some computers do this.

Try it on almost any other computer and it should work if the download and install are actually correct.

At first I thought it was an issue with a very odd processor then I saw it again on a system that should have worked. In all cases the suspect computers would run almost any other distro as a live cd.

I've tried it on an HP laptop with the same result - no useable screen found, and I cannot switch to another VT to check things out.
