Install MATE in addition to Cinnamon

I have a LinuxMint 17 installation in VirtualBox, and I want to install MATE so I can choose between MATE and Cinnamon. I tried the mint-meta and mint-desktop-environment package for previous versions of Mint, but neither of them works.

Is there a single package I can install that will install all of MATE in Mint 17?

I don't know if these are different packages, but check the Mint forums at the link below:

I tried searching for those, and the mate-desktop-environment that supposedly worked for Mint 16, but none of this worked. I also couldn't find anything on Google or on the Mint forum's search.

Open Synaptic and search for "Mint-Meta-Mate."

It's described as the "set of packages required to run the MATE desktop environment." My understanding of "meta" packages is that it will pull in the rest of the needed packages, though not necessarily the optional ones, though I haven't done it (I installed Mint with MATE).

Thank you, frankbell. I found that immediately in the Software Center and will install it later.

It installed beautifully - thank you very much.
A curiosity that I've noticed on this that is says in the lower left hand corner of your first response that you were on Mint. How come it says you were on Mint when you wre on Mint, while for me it says Ubuntu when I post under Mint?

Thanks for updating. It's nice to know when one of my shots in the dark hits target.

I have a plugin in my browser which I use to display the correct string in the user agent.

https://addons.opera.com/en/extensio...agent-changer/

I got it when I got tired of seeing generic "Linux" when I was in fact using Debian or Slackware. You can visit this site to see what your user agent string is saying.
