How to Select a Workspace

I'm looking for a keyboard shortcut to switch the display to a particular workspace. "Hot Corners" involves a lot of motion for quick back-and-forths. The shortcut
Quote:
Ctrl+Alt+Left/Right
cycles through adjacent workspaces, but I'd like a direct path to a particular workspace; e.g,
Quote:
Ctrl-Alt-3
to go immediately to workspace 3. Any ideas?

I map to ALT-><directional arrow>

ALT-LEFT moves me to the left
ALT-RIGHT moves me to the right
ALT-DOWN moves me down
ALT-UP moves me up

I don't have mappings for "Go to workspace #xx", although you can do exactly that. But I'd always tend to forget whether the numbering went by row first or by column first.
I don't have a wrap-around. If I'm at the top and I do ALT-UP it does nothing because I'm at the top.
Plus I only use 4 workspaces so it's rather easy for me to snap around my grid. Since I usually devote certain screens to certain functions, I instinctively know what activity I'm on by the look of it.

What display manager are you running where you can't map keyboard shortcuts?

Mint 17.1 Cinnamon. I confess that I'm an old Slacker using IceWM, just getting used to a 'modern' distro like Mint. I have no clue how to add something like
Quote:
crtl-alt-1
as a shortcut using the
Code:
Preferences>Keyboard>Shortcuts
menu. Any help appreciated.

BTW, thanks for the quick response.

Using the desktop there should be system settings and you can eventually find keyboard shortcuts. Not sure specifically for MINT or if it's different with different desktops, but in general all of the desktops have a concept of system settings and/or preferences and then from in there you can find the way to set up keyboard shortcuts. Sorry, running Ubuntu here, MINT is my home system.

Figured it out. From the Menu, selected
Quote:
Preferences>Keyboard>Keyboard Shortcuts>Direct Navigation
. The trick is to click
Quote:
Switch to Workspace n
, then double click
Quote:
unassigned
. Pressing ctrl-alt-n sets the shortcut.

Thanks again.
