how do i get opengl to work and what is it?
I am trying to run a CAD program on a windows 7 virtual machine on linux mint. When the vm starts it warns that "Hardware graphics acceleration is not available" and recommends that I update my OpenGL drivers.
I have a new ASUS PZ77-v motherboard and I am using the graphics from that - no separate graphics card. How do I "turn on" openGL? Can I assume that a new, higher end motherboard will support it? I checked the documentation for the motherboard and it is not mentioned, but someone on the internet told me that all new-ish motherboards will support it. |
OpenGL is part of Mesa, and is the poorer cousin of DirectX 9Watch me get flamed for saying that).

You have to enable 3D acceleration in your VM's settings and if you don't have them preinstalled already (depending on which virtualization software you are using) you have to install the Guest Extensions/Tools.
Keep in mind that you also have to install the §D drivers for your videocard (available from Intel's website) on the host OS. |
