My old monitor died, and I replaced it with a used DELL monitor. I was able to use it yesterday, but today I'm dead in the water. I see "Cannot Display This Video Mode" "Optimum Resolution 1280 x 1024 60 Hz."

I have onboard NVidia GeForce 6100, nForce 405 graphics.

Trying to boot Linux Mint 13, XFCE, with an Athlon x64 dual-core processor, and 3 gigs of RAM.

I cannot get into terminal mode, all I see is the above error. I can boot a Knoppix 7.2 CD. I can set the Knoppix session just fine, but not the X.Org on the hard drive. How can I modify the X.Org, using Knoppix? Or is it another file I'll need to edit?

If the answer is the X.Org file, what changes will I need to make?

Fixed? Not at all, instead, I switched distros. Linux Mint never liked my previous monitor. I can install codecs myself, and will use either Fedora, or Open SUSE. Fedora can be a pain, but I like it.

Ihad this problem with my machine which has GF 6150s & 9500GT. The Ge force 6100 series uses 304.88 driver which is almost a legacy driver.
