Best LINUX MINT Distro for DELL DIMENSION E521?
 

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the best Linux Mint Ditro to use on an old DELL DIMENSION E521?

I have 18.1 on it now but it's kinda slouchy. This DELL had Windows XP originally and we all know what happens when you keep THAT!

With the origianal specs 2gb ram only the mate or xfce desktops would be useful but they may even be slow. I would give something like antix or maybe mx linux a try on it. Mint is great distro but not the best fit for older machines. JMHO.

I can only second the sound advice from KC1DI to use MX Linux or antiX.

You should try Tails that does not install on your machine it can save on to it or a separate USB.

You can download the 64bit version from tails.boum.org two versions are for DVD or USB to download for free. They refuse to make a 32 bit version even though 25% of machines are 32 bit.

If you only have a 32 bit machine you will have to contact me and I can tell you were to get the 32 bit on USB or DVD.

What happens when you keep that?

It is a security nightmare for one thing :(
