Xorg display resolution question

I am uncertain if this is the correct forum to post this question. I have an ASUS m70vn loaded with Vista and Ubuntu Ultimate Edition 2.0 64bit. Everything works great I have have a small issue with the fact that I can not change the screen resolution from 1920x1200. I have tried to manually add modes to the xorg.conf file and I have tried multiple different drivers from Ubuntu's open source to nvidia's closed source. This really wouldn't be an issue except I am a gamer and most games attempt to go full screen and xorg won't let them run at anything other then 1920x1200 which most games don't like so much.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm not sure what to post I have reloaded my xorg.conf and nvidia-settings will not allow me to change my screen resolution. Here is what I get with xrandr -q

Code:

Screen 0: minimum 1920 x 1200, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 1920 x 1200
default connected 1920x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm
  1920x1200      50.0*

Thanks,
Jared

I think it has to do with enabling scaling in the nvidia driver

Scaling

Thanks for the prompt response Farslayer. It turns out that scaling is the issue. Unfortunately the flatplanel or gpu is not scaling properly. I had it set to aspect-ratio-scale and tried stretched, but Centered is in fact the only one that even remotely works. When attempted to scale with anything other then centered it pops to a window and I lose my mouse. I know the flatpanel can scale properly as I run games under Vista just fine. I just don't want to be forced to run Vista. :(
