Hi. I have a eeepc 901 with xandros, and before some automatic (and unwanted) updates I have no available disc space in / partition, but I have plenty space in /home/user partition.
As a result (I suspect), keyboard is missconfigured, firefox always complains about aborted sesions and has no history and much more errors.
Cleaning some old logs help, but it's not a solution.
I have been planning two solutions, but I need advice and courage.
1.- Reinstal system from /ro or /.ro or whatever. I know there is a way, it's somewhere in (R)TFM, but I don't know its drawbacks and when I add new packages available disc space will blow off.
2.- Move some directories (may be /usr/var, help needed) to a new partition torn out from /home/user, and add it to fstab, but
2a.- Can it be done with no danger on a running system?
2b.- Will some file in such directory be needed before automaticaly mounted?

1.- Will I have disc enough for debian and some other apps in just 8Gb? Even so, I'll loss any chance to get back to Xandros if somethig goes wrong
2.- Will my EeePC boot in just 30-35 seconds? I program some apps to hurry up my kid, update my to-do & purchase lists,... I can't wait 1 or 2 minutes
3.- Will all hardware (wifi, webcam, 3xUSB, card reader, bluetooth) work fine?
4.- What about Easy Peasy vs. DebianEeePC?

On my old 701 4gb, Debian takes up right at 1gb of space using lxde as my desktop. Boots in under 30 seconds. All the hardware works.

Wow, I did not know about lxde, but it is even lighter than Xfce
