x wont start on slackware


hi,

i have searched on the forums and couldnt find it, any way my problem is i have installed slackware on my laptop (its plgged into a CRT as the LCD is smashed) it all loades up ok and i can login but when i typ startx to start the GUI it wont start and it tells me

Hi,

This is probably a stupid question, but have you configured xorg.conf for your external monitor?

i have goot to say that you are great and i am as stupid as a well i dont know but somthing stupid, i will have a look in it but i am not sure how so i would appreciate any tips

thanks and that most certainly wasnt a stupid question!

any way i didnt expect to have to as red hat 9 worked on the laptop with an external moniter but still slackware is a diffrent and better distro to redhat/fedora

thanks again i willhave a look at my xorg.conf in a min
