Is that OpenSUSE 11.3 ?
if so is is way past it's End Of Life and so is OpenSUSE 11.4

11.3 went EOL on January 20th 2012 , over a year ago

currently opensuse is only supporting
OpenSUSE 12.1 and 12.2

-------------

on 11.3 Are you using "evergreen" ?
if so what was in the last update ?

i am betting a xorg update
if so
Are you using a propitiatory ATI/AMD driver ?
Or a Nvidia driver ?

Boot into the terminal and have a look at
/var/log/zypper.log
Code:
nano /var/log/zypper.log
--- or ---
vi /var/log/zypper.log
and see what was installed
