WXGA Setting Staying with SUSE

Can anyone help me? I am using SUSE 10.1 RC2. I have a Radeon Xpress 200M Video Card on a Compaq v2552US notebook. I have the correct options on screen resolution (1280x768). I selected them, and am told to reboot the computer. I do that also, yet the resolution goes back to 1024x768. So my display is streched. Can anyone give me some suggestions? (I will be trying SUSE 10.1 RC3 after I get it downloaded and patched, but I am not sure that it will help.)
