Would 8GB SSD/512MB be enough for Ubuntu Netbook Remix?

I posted earlier about Netbook specific distros. I liked Mandriva Mini but I know I can't purchase that directly so decided on Ubuntu Netbook Remix.
The system I want to get to install it on is a Acer Aspire 1295. It only has 8GB SSD and 512MB memory. Would this system be enough to install Ubuntu Netbook Remix?
Is it possible to expand the SSD or memory on this?
I won't be installing a lot of extra software or saving a lot of data. I will just store a few mp3's to play on it, some photos, and do mostly Firefox browsing, use OpenOffice for some basic document work, and maybe a few other minor things.

As long as you don't get too out of line with software, that should do. I've got Ubuntu 8.10 on my Dell Mini and it takes up about 6G and that is with a fair bit of software. I'm sure it would be possible to slim it down a bit. However, boosting memory to 1G might not be a bad idea. Ubuntu will probably work fine with 512, but you would likely notice a performance difference if it had 1G.
