Wireless on Dell Inspiron 1721 running Fedora 8
 

Hey All,

I recently loaded Fedora 8 on a Dell Inspiron 1721. I was able to get the wireless working with the b43 firmware cutter. Here's the problem . . . I have no problem running System -> Preferences -> Wireless Assistant as root, but when I try as a normal user, I receive "Unknown Error." Does anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this? Oddly enough . . . this particular user account is in the sudo file to run ALL commands, but when I try to sudo ifconfig wlan0 up or even sudo shutdown -Fr now, it won't let me. I'm able to sudo for other commands though . . . i.e. sudo vi <file> or sudo mv <file>, etc. Some help please? Thanks, guys.
