Wireless Card Not Detected on Slackware-based Distro
Hi, I am pretty familiar with Linux however I am new to Slackware and wireless. I seem to be having a great deal of trouble setting up my wireless card (by the way, it is not USB).
So, my main goal is to of course connect to my wireless network. I think my main problem is that my system is not even detecting my wireless card. Since I am not exactly sure what kind of card I have, would somebody be able to help me determine this? And once I figure out what kind of card I have, how should I go about solving my problem?
I have also read a few other threads and will post the output of commands which I believe will help in providing more info.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks rob.rice. So, I've downloaded madwifi and am currently trying to install it. When I try "make", I am greeted with the following:
Quote:
/bin/sh: line 0: cd: /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build: No such file or directory
Makefile.inc:66 *** /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build is missing, please set KERNELPATH. Stop.
I Googled this and found that I needed to create a symbolic link from /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.21.5 to /lib/modules/2.6.21.5/build. However, I do not seem to have a "linux-headers-2.6.21.5" in my /usr/src directory. What can I do about this?
install the full kernel source package
you will find it in the "/slackware/k/kernel-source-2.6.29.5-noarch-2.tgz" package
better yet to fix any problems from left out packages just cd to /your-install-disk-mount-point/slackware/"^M "upgradepkg --reinstall ./*/*.tgz "^M
then you most likely would want to do a removepkg kdei* it's easier to remove them than exclude them
then lilo because this will most likely rewrite the kernel and mess up your boot image
besides it never hurts to rerun lilo so when in doubt rerun lilo
I just installed slackware64-current not only did it find my athrous wifi card but it also connected it up to my AP on the first boot
without me having to configure anything
Could you tell us which netbook or notebook that is? Because my Eee-PC had Atheros-based hardware too and I know how to configure it to work with Slackware.
by slackware like distro witch one victor.slamd64or BlueWhite64
going by what I've seen from loking around the net this computer
I think it will run slackware64-current
the latest version of madwifi is in the latest linux kernel
well from the error codes in the link you have the 2.6.29.4 kernel sources installed
you might as well go ahead and build a new kernel
I posted a good starting thread here http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...-point-739424/
