Windows 8 HP laptop slackware installation
I bought a HP envy m4 with windows 8. I have installed slackware on many computers, including desktops and notebooks. I could not get the boot order to change and recognize my dvd. After spending 3 hours with HP technical support, I was informed that windows 8 does not allow booting from the dvd. I do not believe this is true. So, my questions is, has anybody out there accomplished this? If so please inform me as how to proceed.

If Secure Boot is enabled in the UEFI firmware you will not be able to boot your Slackware DVD, you have to disable that first.
You also will need an UEFI enabled Slackware DVD/USB, more information here: http://docs.slackware.com/howtos:sla..._uefi_hardware |
Up and Running
Just a quick thank you. I followed your instructions and got it working. It is amazing how easy it is with a little help. Again, thank you.
