wifi to ethernet ip persistence
my friend has a question...
i have network manager and a wifi laptop. i run downloads and switch from wifi to wired, but my downloads drop. how do i set my wifi ip to pass over to the 10basetx seamlessly and not drop anything? thanks in advance |
In a simple routed, wired/wireless, home network, probably not possible. Whenever you
disconnect or reconnect the network cable, while a (network level) conversation is active, you risk dropped packets. Any time this happens, your computer could cause the server at the other end of the (application level) conversation becoming confused, and dropping the connection. Given a properly setup network metric, you should be able to automatically switch back and forth between the Ethernet and WiFi connections. But that won't guarantee no dropped packets, if you're in the middle of an application conversation. So I am going to guess the answer is no, 100% seamless, no packet's dropped... not possible |
