Wifi question on Linux DSL

Hi,

Just installed Linux DSL on my old laptop. It works but I don't know how to configure the wireless.

Code:
iwlist wifi0 scan
wifi0 Failed to read scan data " No data avaialble

Code:
iwconfig wifi0
I get the mac address and other info.

The system knows my card but please advise on how to configure it.

Thanks.

It's on my other laptop. I don't know how to cut and paste from there to here. I will try saving the info to USB drive. I will let you know.

are you running a full hd install or a frugal MyDSL install?

I ask because if your running frugal there are many wireless tools in the "testing" and probably "system" catagory.

If you did a full install ala debian then you are probably lim ited
because if you try to enable apt and install/upgrade anything it will likely break th X window(desktop)

Just wondering but why DSL?
cause it's small or what?

did you try any other small or similar distros?

The laptop I have is Compaq Armada M700. I try installing Ubnutu version 9. and it's keep crashing in the middle while installing. No idea what the error message is, it goes so fast unable to read it.

I just want to install some thing on this laptop. It doesn't matter what. I then tried installing Fedora, I saw the first screen, it was on that welcome screen for two hours. I rebooted and it did the same thing. No error message.

DSL able to install it, but can't seem to configure the wireless. I did the full install.

Please let me know if I should try any other Linux.

Thanks.
