Why my IrDa connection hangs (stops)

Hi all.

I am using linux for a couple of years now. I am not a guru, but a few things I can do. But I have a problem.

IrDa on my Gericom notebook works for me (kernel 2.6.6 to 2.6.11) with via-ircc module. But my internet connection with my phone using GPRS is not stable. Sometimes a got disconnected after 2-3 minutes, sometimes after more then one hour.
When I use usb irda dongle on the same computer I have never such problems.

It looks that via-ircc kernel module is broken, but I am not 100% sure. Did anyone else experienced same problems?
