why memory usage get from command 'free' and app 'system monitor' is not the same?


hi all,
as subject, when i want to get my system memory usage . i found that , the result get from command 'free' and GUI app 'system monitor' isn's same. can anyone tell me why , which one is true

It should not be different. Can you show example of both?

Go read this for general memory stat reporting under Linux.
This subject has been raised many times - do some searching or check the "Similar Threads" below.
