why is ubuntu not loading on my HP Pavilion tx1000

i have been using Ubuntu for a good few years now without any problems. i have just brought a new HP Pavilion tx1000 tablet pc http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/sh...tx1000z_series
i have created a partition and tried the 64 bit first but it did not load. i tried the 32 bit after and it still did not load the live CD! dose any one have a suggestion?? i would like to try the 64 bit version if possible but if not i am happy with the 32 bit. thx for your help.

YES!!!! I have an HP tx1000 too... I haven't sleep in 30 hours but I did it! Kubuntu 7.10 x64 is running smoothly! The problem is the Turion64 X2... specially the X2 part. It seems that the nvidia chipset does something dirty with the APIC (don't ask what, I've been doing this for 30 hours). So, linux can't start. Solution? easy. If your system is installed but not booting, you are minutes away... add the "noapic" option before booting you linux. That should let you boot this time. Now, you have to edit the /boot/grub/menu.list to add that option... and... Congratulations! You did it!!!

could you please rephrase your question or try another language?

I got ubuntu 8.10 to work adding noapic as a kernel parameter (when grub starts, press "e" on the option to boot ubuntu, and "e" again on the longest line, add noapic at the end, enter, and then "b"). If that works, tell me again and I'll help you edit your configuration so you no longer need to do that every time you boot. If "noapic" is already there... describe the simptoms better becouse I don't fully understand them.

Anyway... do you have a really good reason to use a 64bit OS? If not, I think you'll want to use the 32bit version. With it you'll have less problems setting up: flash, skype, the touchscreen, and other stuff I don't remember now.
