Which distro you recommends for Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo V5535


Hello,

I have new esprimo, and i want to install some linux on it.I'm using Ubuntu about one year.But i worry because Ubuntu damages laptop hard drives, so i wish some distro without that problem.

My english is bad, hope you understand me.

There is no reason Ubuntu would damage a laptop hard drive more than any other OS with the proper setup, if you have Ubuntu and like it, keep it.

EDIT:
I just read up a little, it is a power management thing, which you can simply turn off. I've known about that, I never enable the power management on my hard drives.

load_cycle_count

The problem is, that many laptops cause many "loadcycles" (in which the head of the HD is parked) to occurr. They reduce the expected life-time of the hard-disk. The problem seems to be solved in Intrepid. The problem and the solution are described in <http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=5030999>
