What linux distros to run on Asus A6Vc laptop

I just bought an Asus A6Vc laptop along with another gig of ram. I'm looking to duel boot it with Linux but I'm not sure what one to go with.

The only one I have ever used was Fedora because we use that at work for our servers and I have it running on my main PC at home. I have been reading up on the different distros (I know very little about any of them) and I just don't know what one to go with.

Iíd like to it to use KDE as my desktop, I know my way around everything pretty well on it because of my home PC.

I'd mostly want it for php/Mysql development however I'm sure to use it for movies/music/web browsing quite a lot.

I took me a good few weeks of screwing with fedora to get everything how I liked so I can play all the file types I want and so my hardware all worked properly (well mostly, some just wouldn't) so that it can fully replace my windows machine (for everything but games anyway). Iím wondering if thereís a better choice for my laptop.

I have read up on Suse and so far it looks to be the best most hassle free one with a lot of support. Mandrake seemed good as well. I read up on many others but I just canít make my mind up.

One thing I really liked about fedora was the Yum distribution/update. I did a search and I only see stuff about yum being used for fedora, so what do the other distros use and how does it compare?

I'm 90% sure any distro will. Boot a live CD and post the output of lspci & lsmod in this thread. Then we'll be able to tell you want kernel drivers to include in the kernel.

I'm not sure how to run lspci or lsmod, I have a knoppix dvd that I can boot. Do I just type it in the command line if they are installed?

EDIT: scratch that got it, now to find a way to get it on this PC
