webcam issues on Asus G1Sn with Ubuntu 8.10
 

I recently went to try my webcam on my Asus G1Sn and when I go to use it the light comes on showing that it should be working but I cannot get any picture from it. Anyone have any ideas what I can do to get this working?

810 is using a kernel 2.6.27 and up that kernel has limited drivers. slackware we wrote a kernel build patch to build the drivers and replace the new ones. but the debian folks sent out some gspca source deb that will not build with the newer kernel. I if you are using one of the old cheap web cams like me. I had this problem to. I fixed it for rpm based OS and slackware but that debian kernel of Ubuntu is dang wierd I spent all day yesterday try to build a package for it. good luck blank screen yeap.
