vt's don't work after suspend to ram

I have suspend to ram working, and when I wake the computer, it brings me back into GUI, as I'd expect. However, sometimes, I want to work in my vt's, and I press "ctrl-alt-f1" to switch to my first vt. All I get is a blank screen, and I have to press "ctrl-alt-f7" to get back to GUI. I've tried getting to all the other vt's, and none of them work until I reboot the computer.

I use the option acpi_sleep=s3_bios, if that's any help.

Thanks in advance.
