I had no issues installing VLC using yum, I do know it requires a lot of dependencies, when I installed it with yum it downloaded 25 some packages, all I had to type was "yum install vlc", I run FC5.
You may need to install xvid/divx codecs, it sounds like thats what the problem is.
hey i too am facing problem with VLC. i have installed it in FC5. installation was smooth without any probs. but whenever i try opening a file via file -> open. the player crashes. i tried all types of files, avi, mpg, mp3, ogg, rm, rmvb. but nothing works. any idea what problem it would be?
