Video Drivers on new laptop

Hey im pretty new when it comes to linux, and i have a problem with my graphics drivers. I have a Compaq V5000 series laptop with a celeron M 410, 512mb of ram, 60 gig hd, and intel gma 950 integrated graphics. I hope to get the system running exclusively linux along with xgl. I tried using the Kororaa xgl live cd, but the X-server would not load due to driver issues? Is there any fix for that? Im not totally sure how to work my way around the text based stuff, so any and all help would be really appreciated. Thanks

hi, you need the proprietary drivers from intel to enable the 3d-acceleration for this graphiccard, normally you can only install this drivers in a distro you have installed on the hd, they are not included in livecds because of legal issues. There is a tutorial about getting 3d acceleration here on this site. Nevertheless I would not try to run the xgl server at first when you are new to linux and not experiensed with text-mode-configuration because its highly experimantel, so I would suggest you to run a normal xserver at first, gather some experience install the graphics driver and then try xgl after some time

Also does xgl work with SuSe? Thanks
