I've used four Vaios over the years with Linux, and all have worked very well. I'm currently using a CS110E with openSUSE 11.2. Right out of the box, EVERYTHING worked right. Only two small gripes: not all the FN keys work (but since I'd rarely use the ZOOM keys, it's not an issue), and the "AV Mode" touch pad doesn't work. Everything else, though, is fine, webcams, etc. Had to change one setting for the sound card for the internal mic to work, but I documented that here on this site. Probably took me less than 1 HR to get a working box up and going.

Of course, things are going to depend on what distro you load on it, and what (if any) things Sony does to the box before you get it.

Hi

In a deeper search, Ive found 2 options of Asus: K52JR and UL80VT.
The question is about the processor (i3 at 2.26Ghz in K52JR and Core 2 Duo at 1.3GHz in UL80VT)
The reviews says that the second one, runs games very well.
Personally i will use the laptop to development (java principally). Is this Core 2 Duo enought for that?

Thanks!

IMHO, Sony put a lot of effort into "looking good" and are thus able to charge higher prices than the competition for products with similar components because "looking good" is an important purchase decision factor for many buyers.
