Using Sony VAIO function keys on Mandrake 9.1

Hello People,

Okay, I am running Mandrake 9.1 on a Sony VAIO PCG-FX340 laptop, and I wanted to know if there is a way to use the automatic function keys (change brightness, volume, toggle lcd / external vga, and toggle lcd external s video). If not, where can these be found? (may sound stupid but I can't find anywhere to change the brigthness on the kde apps and controls). Also, the kde laptop utility does not seem to see my battery?

Please help!

for the batt. it sounds like acpi isnt enabled. this is normally not a big deal to correct if you search here for acpi youll find a wealth of info.
for the function keys.... try googling for an app that someone has written for these keys to work. i know my hp's special keys were able to work thru such an app.
