When a USB device is plugged into my notebook running linux it locks up. Have tried RH9 and SuSE 9. Have tried camera/pen drive/mouse. USB works ok with WIN2000.

first try a kernel update i have a notebook too and im running kernel 2.4.24 and everything is working fine right out of the box as well have a look at your kernel config file in /usr/src/.config if you have usb module support compiled
