usb mass storage in knoppix 3.8

Hello,
when I use knoppix 3.8 in cd bootable (in may laptop) i have not problems whit my usb mass storage. When i put the mass storage in two secons they find it.
But I install this distribution of linux on my laptop (acer travelmate 400). In this situation the usb doesn´t work, they d´ont find them automatically. Ok, i put as a root:
mount -t vfat /dev/sda1 /mnt/usb, dosen´t work (i try whit sda2, sda2...)
newbie (in linux and in english :-)....)
thanks!

Jordilinux, I am using 3.7 so I can't say what your version is supposed to do but my memory stick(sda1) is mounted at /mnt/sda1. " In this situation the usb doesn´t work", do any of your usb devices work?
