USB Linux on Dell Mini - no wireless
Hi all!
I have been trying to set up a USB drive (4gb) to boot linux on one of those DELL Mini computers. I tried pendrivelinux and SLAX. The Computer is my wife's. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO INSTALL EXCEPT THE WIRELESS CARD. My wife liked the SLAX interface ... is there a USB linux that will work? I am currently downloading linux MINT 6 Computer has the intel ATOM processor and 16gb flash memory as a hard drive - windows XP installed. The wireless network adapter is Broadcom 802.11g FYI - I tried to install on my HP tx1000 laptop also, with the same result - no wireless. any hints or clues on this? Thanks in advance ... Stan PS. I am new to linux ... have been using ubuntu 8.04 on my toshiba satellite - dual boot with vista. Both systems connect to internet without any trouble. |

You need to use Broadcom's new wl driver to run the wireless card on the Mini. Most distro's haven't picked up on this driver, probably because it isn't an open source driver.
