URGENT - Slackware wont boot after install

I had WinXP on my HD already, and tried installing slackware. I ended up losing my windows...

But i decided to move on. I erased all drives thru the CD booted linux, and went on to the installation. After everything done, I removed the CD restarted. The Intel boot manager showed up, and asked for a boot disk. I inserted the slack CD and it showed up as a RESCUE disk. I decided to try to reinstall it by typing 'setup' like i was supposed to, but this time it thinks i'm entering an unrecognized command!

I've already tried deleting all partitions, restarting and instering the CD again, but it only boots as a RESCUE disk instead of the install disk! what do I do? I need urgent advice... Please

PS: The CD is running as a rescue disk because it somehow gets the information that slackware is already installed.. but how does it do that, since i deleted all partitions?

Thx

You need to wipe the MBR. Apparently the linux bootloader is still in place, so Slack install thinks it is already installed.

Use your XP disk to delete lilo. Go to the console and give the command "fixmbr". You should then be able to install Slack

I've been researching ad found this command to erase the MBR:

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=512 count=1

unfortunately it didnt work. I also tried this to format te partitions:

mkreiserfs /dev/hda1
mkreiserfs /dev/hda2
mkreiserfs /dev/hda3

for my 3 partitions

Any hints?

Are you running Slackware 10?
One cd is the installation cd (the first), the second cd is the rescue disk.
Try changing cd...
Hope this helps,

Leonardo
