Dell Insperion N-7110. I have tried to install,Unbuntu 11.10, but no luck with my Laptop. Download the Wubi option and during install, my screen went black. Tried to boot from CD trial no success: Please see error message: [drm:intel_dsm_platform_mux_info] *ERROR* MUX INFO call failed] I saw where someone suggested disabling the Video card, and that did not work. Please help!

This is a bug reported by many users in Red Hat bugzilla. A user reports the same Laptop model as yours (is it you?) and it seems tied to some models of the NVIDIA graphic card.

Recently I've had an issue with the NVIDIA card and the new NOVEAU driver. Check the boot messages at the beginning (before the screen goes blank) and if you see some messages related to kernel: noveau you can try to disable it at a successive boot. To do this you should add nomodeset to the kernel options. I don't know exactly how to do this in the Ubuntu installation, but this page might help (at a quick glance it looks like F6+ESC is what you need). HTH.
