Unable to connect to weak wireless signals.

Hello when I'm trying to connect to a weak wireless signal (under 50 %)from my laptop using Ubuntu 11.10 it fails.

Another fact is that when i'm using CentOS it works amazingly.

It would be something related to the drivers used by each OS?

Info:

$ uname -a
Linux jean-HP-Pavilion-dm4-Notebook-PC 3.0.0-16-generic #29-Ubuntu SMP Tue Feb 14 12:48:51 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

$ lspci | grep Wireless
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Centrino Wireless-N 1000
