I am trying to throw Ubuntu on a Fujitsu Monte Carlo laptop (circa 1997). It will not boot by CDROM. Is there a way to create a boot diskette (floppy) to start the process and then install from CD? Please let me know. Thanks.
I am new to this forum but have an idea since I have installed unbuntu on my thinkpad.
Download the Xandros 3.0.2. using bittorrent or bittornado. Make an ISO image and try that. Unless you are dead set on ubuntu I think you will like Xandros better. I sure do. And it work great on my desktop and Thinkpad t30.

I know I'm kinda late but I was wondering if you had gotten this to work yet? If not I can help you get it working, I revived older laptops all the time that get donated to me and I have some machines around that time period and they pretty much all boot from a CD once you give it enough effort.
