Ubuntu 9.04 on Asus x50sl: freezes completely, suspect wlan card Ath ar928x
Hi
My new Asus X50SL laptop came with Vista Biz pre-installed, so I set up a dual boot with Ubuntu 9.04 (kernel 2.6.28-13, ext4 file system). The wireless card is Atheros AR928X, there were issues right away: it could see all the networks, but could connect only once in every 3-4 tries and the signal was weak and the system would occasionally freeze. I read up on the issue and installed the latest compat-wireless driver, it now connects immediately, even though the signal is still a bit too weak (I'm in the same room with the router!) The system now freezes every time I work, after about 15 mins. Freezes cold, no response to either mouse or keyboard, so I can't access any info. I tried hibernate once, there were some messages on the screen prior to it going off, I caught only "IRQ 16 disabled". IRQ 16 is assigned to the wireless card I think. Here is the dmesg dump: http://www.geocities.com/moomichek/docs/dmesg2.txt I didn't like "PM: Resume from disk failed." and "[ 19.332119] [fglrx:fireglAsyncioIntEnableMsgHandler] *ERROR* interrupt source ff000066 is not supported on this hardware (return code = 1)" I am not very good at these things, so would appreciate any suggestions on how to fix this. Thanks. |
