Hi, I have an Acer one d255 and I installed Ubuntu notebook edition on it. I'm trying to get the touchpad to behave kind of like a mac. I've enable SHMConfig in the 50-synaptic.conf file found in the xorg.conf.d folder
Quote:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "touchpad catchall"
Driver "synaptics"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Option "SHMConfig" "1"
EndSection
|
And so I can change the touchpad on the fly with synclient. But when I write the changes to the 50-synaptic.conf file
Quote:
Section "InputClass"
Identifier "touchpad catchall"
Driver "synaptics"
MatchIsTouchpad "on"
MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Option "SHMConfig" "1"
Option "EmulateTwoFingerZ" "50"
Option "EmulateTwoFingerW" "9"
Option "VertTwoFingerScroll" "1"
Option "HorizTwoFingerScroll" "1"
Option "TapButton1" "1"
Option "TapButton2" "3"
EndSection
|
So I save this and restart and when I check synclient with
synclient -m 100 only the emulatetwofinger* settings have been changed to 50 and 9. Nothing else. Also At times when I change this file and restart the computer doesn't restart properly, I guessing because I messed up syntax somewhere.
I've heard you can use udev with Ubuntu 10.10 to modify the touchpad. Is this true and is there a good guide to the syntax and whatnot. But I really don't want to have to do udev. Does anyone have an idea why I'm having an issue with the xorg file not updating? Also I don't believe its because I use a 1 instead of on for SHMConfig. I've tried it both ways, and because of the syntax it really shouldn't.
