Ubuntu 10.10 on Vostro 3300 - graphic card not recognised.

Hello,
I'm new to linux.
I tried to install ubuntu, but it doesn't recognise my graphic card.
I would be gratefull for any help, or a direction to a place where I should ask for help.
also, I'm not sure what information I need to provide and how to get it... so I'll need help there too.
Thanks!

have you tried hardware wizzard? the icon should be right on desktop..

you can also try pinguyos or linux mint that have most drivers already included.

I can't find the hardware wizard

I can't find the hardware wizard.
If I run System->Administartion->Additional Drivers
then for: nvidia_current
I get: "This driver is activated but not currently in use."

when I just installed ubuntu, it recognised the graphic card and asked to install it, I allowed it and then it couldn't run X.
then on some forum I found how to disable the change, but I don't know what to do next.

should I install pinguy os, or mint, together with ubuntu?
it's just seems like a lot of trouble for something that might not even solve the problem.
