ubuntu 10.04.2, Eee PC 1005HA, touchpad, won't toggle off
The touch pad is permanently on, the indicator light in the button is on, and it doesn't toggle off. Less importantly (for me) the two finger control on the touch pad is inoperative.
Also, more importantly, Fn F2-F4, Fn F8-F12 and Fn numeric key pad don't work.
Fn F1, F5, F6, F7, Home, End, PgUp, PgDn all work.
Has anyone found the fix for these problems? Your help will be appreciated.
Have you checked setting under system preferences>keyboard also Mouse. Ubuntu lists the different types of keyboards. If not there check xorg.conf. But almost positive that you can resolve in keyboard and mouse settings without touching xorg.
Have checked system>preferences>keyboard Generic 105 key had been selected, tried Asus laptop (the only choice) with no change. The touchpad disable is a key(switch) same as the on/off, had no success with the mouse settings either.
Had a search for xorg.conf I understand it doesn't exist by default in 10.04LTS...also not certain what I would put in it.
I had to create xorg.conf file. On machine with nvidia I managed to create it.
On intel machine I can see the xorg.conf.new, but haven't been able to create old to copy new to. If you have nvidia it's quite easy.
I used the program Touchpad-Indicator by Lorenzo Carbonell as detailed on the above site, it gives the choice of toggling the touchpad on/off, and it works for me. Regards
