ubunto on Lenovo Y550
 

i tried installing ubunto 9.1 using windows installer on my laptop lenovo Y550.when i start ubunto the screen goes blank.
clearly my laptop display driver doesnt support linux,
my config is
lenovo Y550
Intel Core 2 Duo processor T6600 2.10GHz
Intel GMA 4500M UMA graphic card
4 GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz SODIMM Memory (2 Dimms)
WiFi - Intel WiFi link 5100

Don't use a Windows' install application. Use a CD, DVD, or usb stick instead.
If you need help installing ubuntu, there are plenty of people on the official ubuntu forums and mailing lists that will gladly help you.
Did you try the other methods?

i tried installing using a cd making partition but the display still wont come!!...then i tried installing using vmware player which worked properly
