I just downloaded Suse 10.1 X86_64 dvd version from opensuse.org yesterday and burned it to dvd. When I try to install it on my HP dv5000 laptop, it stops get stuck at:
[DR-DOS] A:>
before doing anything else. I have tried google, but no success. Where do I go from here. The iso image is on the dvd but it's not loading. I used cdXPburnerPro to burn the image.
No splash screen shows. It just stops at the A: prompt in dos before any installation can begin. This strikes me as odd because I always thought the A: prompt was for floppy drives only. I would print the dos screen to post, but I don't know how. I am attempting to make a dual boot. I already partioned my harddrive.
The message tells me that you are booting up DR DOS to the A: drive. Does your laptop have a floppy drive? If so, are you sure it's empty? If it is empty, go into your CMOS (setup) and check that you are booting from the DVD first. Also did you burn the DVD as an .iso image or did you burn it as a bootable drive and just copy the .iso image to it? If so, you will need to re-burn it, but select iso image from your burning software.

I burned it as a bootable dvd. My HP dv5000 laptop does not have a floppy drive. I did previously make sure the boot was from dvd drive first in the cmos. I'm pretty sure that I burned it correctly, but I will try again and let you know what happens.
