hey everyone i just got an Acer TravelMate 2300 its sweet but iam having problems installing debian on it..


it installs fine.. but when i go to boot the kernel.. it loads a bit. then just after it loads the module uhci it crashes and says segmentation fault and some crap..

nothing is wrong with the pc itsself.. windows installs fine.. fedora core.. SuSE etc.. except debian.. i tried using the woody installer and the new sarge installer and no luck..

these are the specs of my laptop:
Intel® Celeron™ M 340 (1.5GHz) Processor, 15.0" XGA TFT display, 256MB RAM, 40GB Hard Drive, CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo Drive, Shared Video Memory, 802.11b/g wireless, 10/100BT NIC, 56K V.90/V.92 Modem


anyone have any ideas?

maybe acpi? I used to have all kinds of trouble installing distros on my notebook untill I realized that acpi had to be included in the cd's kernel for me to use my keyboard. Debian was among the toublemakers. Still is, actually.
