Touchpad Not Working / Detected on Acer TravelMate 4063LCi
 
A friend of mine just bought an Acer TravelMate 4063LCi and was trying to install RHEL v4 U1 on it to play around with Oracle. Unfortunately, his mouse doesn't work in X. I searched around and set the mouse to synaptics using system-config-mouse, but none of the changes are modifying /etc/X11/xorg.conf. I read around and tried setting it manually. However, I noticed something strange. Certain parameters such as the device and so forth are supposed to be available by running:

cat /proc/bus/input/devices

However, when I run this command, I only get one entry and that's for the keyboard, not the mouse. Here's the output of the cat above:

I was able to successfully use a Kanotixs live cd to see the synaptic keyboard. When I run cat /proc/bus/input/devices, it gives me 3 entries instead of 1:

but RHEL only sees one. Any ideas?
