Touchpad & Caps Lock

This is a two part question.

#1. Is there a way to disable the touchpad on my Sony Vaio PCG-Z1WA?

#2. Is there a way to disable the Caps Lock key?

Im running SuSE 10.0 on a Sony Vaio PCG-Z1WA. If you need any other info just reply.

Thanks,
Wavz

I don't know what to do on the caps lock key,

But if it's a synaptics touch pad, you should be able to edit the synaptics section of

/etc/X11/xorg.conf

to disable it.

On the console or in X?

On the console, edit your keymap file (which would be something like /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/us.map.gz) and change the Caps_Lock line to 'keycode XXX = VoidSymbol'.

In X, put a 'clear Lock' in your ~/.Xmodmap and put 'xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap' somewhere in your X startup (~/.xinitrc or whatever), if you don't have it already.

Alternatively, you could change it into an extra ctrl key or something.

Haven't had to do it, but try deleting the section for synaptics. This assumes you have sections available for whatever pointing device you want to use.

I'm sure there's an "enable" option that you can just set to false,

In fact, see this ... http://ubuntu.wordpress.com/2006/03/...tics-touchpad/

It's probably a better option.
