Toshiba Satellite A30 (714)

Anybody know how to configure acpi or apm correctly with these laptops? Even if you have an A30 xxx you can still help me!

XavierXP are you ever going to answer me?

I installed Mandrake and it was all set up for me. I use KDE as my desktop and KLaptop is installed.

BTW - you posted at 00:16 on Saturday (my time) and 17:59 today (my time) - on Saturday I was in bed and today I was at work. If you want me to see something you should click the "email" button under one of my posts and I'll then see it.

heh ok, I actually did look for an email option by your name and couldn't find it, maybe I'm blind but I couldn't even find it under your profile :(

I understand how Mandrake configures acpi etc, but I'm sure you've noticed with these laptops if you log into kde and unplug your cable from the wall so it runs on batteries, then a few secs later you get a message saying that your battery is going to run out even though it is fully charged lol! and even still battery time is reported correctly, it jumps from 5 hrs to 2 and then so on, just wanted to know if you had maybe got it working "properly".

I must admit - my lappie is a fixture and is only ever run on mains power. Leave it with me and I'll give it a test.

Well - reporting on the first 5 mins of battery power:
The battery has, successively, 2:40 hrs, 2:38 hours and 2:44 hours left on it

More later

After around half an hour I can say the following:
the remaining time reporting is a bit inconsistent - it keeps jumping around (first 1:45, then 2:00, then 1:38 and so on) but I would say that it will hold the charge for the 2:45 it reported when I first unplugged it.

If you go to battery (and your system is like mine), I'd say that you'd get around 2:30 - 2:45 straight out of the box with Mdk 10.

thanks man :P

After an hour, I seem to be down to around and hour and a half left. So it's not great, but it does work. I suspect that if I were to take the time to look into it properly, I could get it working as it would under Windows. But I probably won't :D
