Toshiba Satellite A135 Notebook

Is it me or are parts of this laptop incompatible with Linux? I've tried everything to fix my sound (Realtek High Definition Audio) and wireless (Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection). Other than that linux works fine for this laptop.

Well,I have Toshiba Satellite A100 with the same audio and wireless and believe me I have tried a lot of Linux distros on it and all of them worked just great.Of course sometimes you need to install a driver or something else to make some things start to work, but that's another story and it's not Toshiba related.

Toshiba A135 linux distro gOS

Finally couldn't take it with Windows at home (Vista just got to me) and after 1.5 years of having it: MS is coming out with Win7. I'm just TIRED of the constant updates. Ok 'nuff.

I have a Toshiba Satellite A135. I tried several Linux distros and had one thing or another not working with several. gOS is what worked right out of the box. It found my wireless network, configured my sound card, no problem. I went to play an mp3, it downloaded the right codec. I wanted a picture VIEWER (something simple) so I got showFoto. It recognizes my USB sticks and my SDCard. Mozilla Firefox is already something I used (dumping IE) so I just imported my bookmarks. It quickly paired with my Nokia phone via bluetooth.

In short, I'm VERY impressed. My wife is next. She was moaning this morning about XP updates. Some last night at 10pm and MORE this morning. She said her next laptop would be a Mac ... though I mentioned that she COULD just cut over to gOS which is very Mac-like ... she's thinking about it. I've read LOTS of posts about people NOT having the right drivers for this model laptop--XP (when downgrading) or Linux. gOS WORKS! give it a try. Hope this helps.
