LinuxQuestions.org - Toshiba A100-ST2311, SATA not detected and....

Hi Penguins.

I am totally lost. I want to install Debin etch, but there are two problems.

#1. I am trying to install new penguin laptop (Toshiba A100-ST2311, spec is http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...00-ST2311.pdf#)

#2. For some reason, USB stick boot does not work. ( I followed http://www.debian.org/releases/stabl...h04s04.html.en then tried to boot from "Removable Devices") Just HD or CD will boot.

#3. CDs were made from Debian bootable disk image using k3b on other Debian penguin, (etch netinst, sarge businesscard), but does not boot.

#4. Slackware 10.1 CD can boot, but does not detect SATA drive, even with sata.i kernel image.

#5. There is no floppy drive.

#6. Slackware installed on USB harddrive is not bootable.

I do not think these two problems, (boot and SATA) are same origin, but I am not sure, maybe new hardware??

Any suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks a lot.
