alright, I did a quick search, didn't turn up what I was looking for, anyways
I"m looking in to install linux (ubutnu 32bit -> ubunto64b -> gentoo64bit) amd64 versions for the aplicable distros on a
Code:
"Compaq Presario R4035CA Notebook Computer"

# Integrated 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)
# High speed 56k Modem
# 54g 802.11b/g Wireless LAN with 125HSM/SpeedBooster support
I would've posted a link but spam laws say no, so ok the stats I'm worried about are posted anyways
I'm going at this the way I was suggested to over at doom9 forums, learn on ubunto because it's easy, switch to 64bit to learn that, then headache over gentoo for best preformance of the little amd64.
I did a search on the compatibly page, this model didn't come up.
I'm going to school to become a network tech so I figured I may as well learn linux, seeing as how it's a required part of my course, hence why I would it to be dual boot, I don't think I'd have a problem formating the hardrive to fat32 so both windows and linux can share space (if possible IIRC it is), unless there was something very interesting on the notebook, but I don't think thats the case, I'll be buying this notebook hopefully within the week, next paycheck to be specific, I"m looking for the path of least of least Resistance for the 32bit ubunto, just so I Can get used to linux, then I can hopfuly make the most out of ubunto 64 once I get comfortable with linux, then off to gentoo 64
anyways
before I buy are there any serious problems I'm likely to encounter with this specific model?
other than the standard driver issues that I"m most Lilly going to face, or is the notebook a complete waste of time trying to linux on it?
thanks for your time
